Brief Bio

Nicholas Mawunyah Gborse is the head of department of the Social Sciences. With nearly one and half decades of experience as a tutor in the College, Nicholas brings to this role a knowledge of the College’s culture, understanding of educational policies, assessment dynamics and 21st-centry leadership in instructional and innovative leadership qualities. Nichoals is a national and regional conference speaker, trainer and consultant on a wide range of education issues and policies. As a school governance and policy expert, he is expected to foster collaboration, synergy among his colleagues with a view to promoting learning in the department. A national Laureate in the Ghana Teacher Prize, Nicholas is adept at teacher mentorship, induction and professional development. With higher qualifications in education, Nicholas considers school culture rooted in instructional leadership as key in the transformation of education spaces.

As a practitioner and an advocate of EdTech, Nicholas has facilitated various workshops and masterclass on EdTech policies and practices in schools. He has written extensively on the Edtech space and other crosscutting issues in education as an avid writer. In this position, Nicholas believes in team building, collaboration, professional development and data-driven decision-making. He seeks to leverage the position to promote learning, being the crux of education. A disciplinarian himself, Nicholas seeks to work with his team of passionate teachers to restore discipline to the department. Together with his colleagues, he seeks to make students in the department competitive in various endeavors including academics. Under him, student centered programmes in public speaking skills, career guidance and mentoring, leadership coaching, moral training and team building will feature prominently in the department. As a key stakeholder in the formulation and implementation of the standard-based curriculum, Nicholas with the support of his competent staff will drive the implementation of the curriculum in the College.
